With just a matter of days before we release our new Lyreco PPE catalogue we are previewing the final four sections. We are up to section eight which is fall arrest equipment.
There are a number of common European standards for this category and they are explained in the section’s opening paragraphs. The Work at Height Regulations (WAH 2005) apply to all work at height tasks where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury.
The regulations set out a simple hierarchy for managing and selecting equipment for working at height:
- Avoid working at height wherever possible
- Use work equipment or other measures to prevent falls where working at height is unavoidable
- Where the risk of a fall cannot be eliminated, use equipment or other measures to minimise the distance and consequences of a fall should one occur
Fall arrest equipment usually requires a minimum distance to deploy safely – slack in lanyards or expansion of a shock absorber may mean the wearer falls some distance before being restrained. In certain circumstances alternative products may be needed at lower heights.
We work with two top brands who are experts in this field, Delta Plus and Miller by Honeywell. Products include:
- Construction kit
- Roofers’ kit
- Scaffolders’ kit
- Restraint kit
- Retracting lifeline
- Fall arrest blocks
- Self-retracting lifeline
- Fall arrest kit
- Rescue and evacuation devices
That concludes our preview of fall arrest equipment in the new Lyreco PPE catalogue. The full catalogue will be available very soon and you’ll be able to see the full range there or online as part of our full range of PPE equipment on our Webshop here
