Over the last two weeks we have been previewing the brand new Lyreco PPE catalogue for 2018/19 and we are up to section nine. This section is all about first aid protection and having the appropriate first aid in the workplace is law, British Standard BS 8599-1.
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 state: “An employer shall provide, or ensure that there are provided, such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first aid to be rendered to his employees if they are injured or become ill at work”.
The level of first aid required will depend on the working environment – whether it is low or high risk – and the number of employees. There are guidelines in the introduction of the section.
First Aid kits and supplies available are statutory, HSE, motoring, burns, eye care, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), biohazard, general first aid supplies such as plasters, bandages, thermometer, and safety pins.
At the end of the section there is a comprehensive range of workplace first aid signs.
We have a new selection of burns first aid kits, a mobile eye wash kit and a chemical splash station in this year’s catalogue.
There’s also a link to free online training for how to use an AED, it has been designed for people with little knowledge of first aid. Access it here www.medianadefib.co.uk/e-learning
That’s everything for our short preview of section nine of the Lyreco PPE catalogue focusing on first aid protection. The full catalogue will be available from next week and you’ll be able to see the full range there or online as part of our full range of PPE equipment on our Webshop here
